Cold Music
Today is Ice Cream and Violins Day! Now, at first I thought this was two separate holidays, but as it would happen: It isn't. That made explaining the meaning of this holiday much harder. The celebration is still almost the same thanks to the 'and' between the two, but there is actually no solid explanation that I've found. Only theories. So... here is my theory.
Question: Ice cream is a cold treat, and is a summer favourite (as seen by all the ice cream holidays). So why would we celebrate it in December? A month notorious for it's lack of heat.
Answer: I do not know yet, so let's move on to violins.
Fact: Violins are known for being cued for either one of two things in musical scores made for the silver screen: sharks and sadness.
Other Fact: Ice cream has very little to do with sharks. However, dramatic characters that are sad turn to one of two foods to help ease their weepy pains: Chocolate or Ice Cream.
Less-than-Fact: Chocolate give a warming sensation that causes the eater to be just the slightest bit happier. While Ice cream does the same thing, it doesn't to it to the same extent, especially if it has no chocolate in it.
All of it Put Together: Violins can be said to be known for being a sad instrument, and Ice Cream can be a treat to eat while you are sad. So today must be a day to grab a pint (of ice cream, mind you), crank up the Tchaikovsky, and wallow! What're you waiting for? Get to it!

Aw man... Almonds.
Today is National Bittersweet Chocolate With Almonds Day! Now if there's one thing I hate about chocolate, it's nuts in it. As a double whammy, the only chocolate with almonds I can find that still qualifies as bittersweet chocolate also has coconut in it. I hate coconut. "It's not the taste, it's the texture" as I'm sure you've heard a bajillion times before. The reason is because my mother gave me some coconut flavoured medicine (good call mom) even though grape medicine is as nasty as the inners of an old man's ear, os one would assume a NON-fruit medicine would be a batrillion times worse. Coconut isn't a fruit, right? Maybe it is. It's on fruit ninja... so it must be I guess. Well, I'm not correcting myself. I'm doing this LIVE! Whatever I'm just rambling to avoid eating this Almond Joy. Here goes nothing. I'll update you on how it goes.
[UPDATE]
This is dag nasty. Gotta power through, though.

Chocolate Plush
Today is Plush Animal Lover's Day! Pretty simple. Today is a day to love on your favorite plush animal. almost everyone I know has some kind of plush animal or toy. They can usually be seen on or near their bed, so thats a good place to start looking if you have misplaced yours. Or if it went on an adventure of it's own free will. They tend to do that, you know.
Today is also Chocolate Day! Ah, a chocolate oriented day once again. As full of these food holidays as I can get, I always have room for another chocolate day. In fact, they are the only holidays that I have marked on a real-life, no-joking, honest-to-goodness, PAPER calendar. Take some time out of your day to enjoy some chocolate. Or if you're like me, you'll have to set aside some of your time to enjoy some of the day in the middle of all your chocolate consumption.

Eat it Fast, it Doesn't Last
Today is National Ice Cream Sandwich Day! Today combines two of my favorite things to eat: Ice Cream and Sandwiches. I love ice cream sandwiches because thats exactly what it is. What you see is what you get. It's a simple summer time treat and it's not going to throw you off with any crazy surprises like a fruit center. The one problem with it is that it is by far the fastest melting kind of frozen good you could eat. Due to the fact that you eat it in the heat of the summer and you are holding it with your hands that have been warmed by the sun, there is no buffer zone for it to keep it's cool. But, that doesn't really matter all that much because you usually eat it so fast that only a few drops of ice cream hit the sidewalk and immediately evaporate. Plus, you are left with parts of the bread (which is chocolate by the way) coating your fingers and you lick that off. Which is the final step of eating an ice cream sandwich. If you wash your hands you did it wrong and must start again. My favorite cream sandwich right now is the one made by M&M's. Its ice cream in between two sugar cookies filled with M&M's! Here look!

Chunks of Joy
Today is National Milk Chocolate Day! Milk chocolate is perhaps, the most popular form of chocolate. It may be due to the fact that as young children, we can be given a Hershey's and have nothing explained to us. I remember when my mom first introduced me to dark chocolate and I didn't understand that it wasn't just a change of color. However, today isn't about dark chocolate, it's about milk chocolate. Milk chocolate is by far the best kind, in my own correct opinion. It's good as a bar, as sprinkles, as syrup, as ice cream, and as pretty much anything that chocolate can be used for. So find a way to get some milk chocolate into your gut today (It should be a gut by now if you've been properly celebrating all these food holidays... unless you celebrated yesterday in a hardcore style beyond my comprehension). Once you've gotten your chocolate, you can cross today off the list, too! If you have a list... I do... I don't cross them off though. ... Do whatever it is you do after you celebrate a holiday.

Puddin' On The Ritz
Today is National Chocolate Pudding Day! It's another food holiday that pretty well explains itself, so let's just get down to business, shall we?
Yeah I made myself some homemade chocolate turtle pudding and topped it with some chocolate chunk hazelnut biscotti cereal. No big deal. No big deal.
It was pretty darn good if I do say so myself. It had a unique flavour that almost resembled a hazelnut mocha. I mean I don't mean to brag or anything but it was pretty awesome.
Spend some time today eating a quick cup or bowl of chocolate pudding and you can mark this day as "Celebrated", too. If you aren't in the mood to make you own batch, Jell-O has the best pudding ever. It's cheap, too, so that gets rid of all excuses you may have.

Better than Escargot
Today is National Chocolate Eclair Day! Aaaw yeah it's time for another chocolate based food holiday. I gotta say, when I started this holiday every day thing, I didn't even fathom how much food I was going to be eating. I'm not complaining, though. Especially if there is chocolate involved. Eclairs are a french pastry made kind of like cream filled donuts, but stretched one way so that it looks longer. It's also made of a different dough and topped with icing. It's usually filled with fancy things like mexican vanilla or dutch raspberry moose, but today you're just looking for the good ol' chocolate. Luckily for me, I work at a bakery, so finding one was absolutely no problem at all. If you need help finding an eclair, though. ... Look in a bakery.

Chocolate Cooling System
Today is National Chocolate Ice Cream Day! As a human being, I love chocolate. As someone near the equator, I like cold things. So naturally I would like cold chocolate. Sometimes cold chocolate can be too cold (frozen in scientific terms), though. That's why I'm thankful that someone made chocolate ice cream. I don't know whether or not it was the second or third flavour or ice cream, but I do know that it is the second best (vanilla is the best due to it's addonability). However, if you don't want to complicate your ice cream with syrups and chunks of cookies, then chocolate is the way to go. This is not to say that chocolate can't handle certain toppings well. I'm saying chocolate can stand strong alone. In fact, some may argue that the best kind of toppings for chocolate ice cream would be chocolate syrup or Charleston Chews. Man those things are good when they're cold. Just so good. There's no better way to cool down in the summer. There are better ways to stay hydrated though.

A Road Often Travelled
Today is Rocky Road Day! Today is a late update due to the fact that I was sleeping or away from the internet and eating with real life people. However, it is all forgiven because Rocky Road is simple, fast, and delicious to celebrate. Rocky Road is ice cream (usually chocolate in my experience) mixed with chunks of chocolate, nano-marshmallows, nuts, and maybe even some chunks of brownie. You can find it at almost any ice cream shop worth going to, or you could make it yourself at one of those newfangled 'serve yourself' types of ice creameries. I highly recommend you DO eat some today. Quickly, because there is just less than two hours left to celebrate. I don't care if you just had a two taco meal with rice and beans and finished it of with a large slice of what looked like a 7 layer chocolate cake topped with ice cream and chocolate sauce. ... so full... I might just have a Narrow Rocky Road (1 scoop)

Goes Great With Everything.
Today is Chocolate Chip Day! Chocolate chips are to thanks for some of the best cookies, cakes, muffins, and most importantly: cookie cakes. They are one of the only key ingredients in some of the best baked goods (by best baked goods, I mean anything with chocolate) that can also be eaten as a snack. In fact, chocolate chip cookies, if made from scratch, are the only thing I know I can make and snack on during almost every step of the baking process. From dough to done, it's all good. So celebrate today by grabbing a bag of chocolate chips and eating as many as you can allow yourself before feeling sick/guilty.

Melts in your mouth. And your hands.
Today is National Chocolate Covered Raisins Day! If you are anything like me, you know the value of a good chocolate covered raisin. They are quite possibly one of the best candy treats in existence. I'm not really a fan of chocolate and fruit mixed together aside from strawberries, bananas, and raisins. I don't understand the people who can eat chocolate "infused" with orange or raspberry. That's off topic, though. Chocolate covered raisins are delicious and precious. I say precious because they melt FAST if you aren't careful in the summer, and sometimes they come pre-melted n the store. It can be hard during these coming months to enjoy them as you so easily can in the fall, winter, or early spring. So perhaps today is a day to go out and celebrate them before it is too late. A word of advice from a self-proclaimed chocolate covered raisin professional: Stick to Raisinets. There may be a better brand, but I haven't found it yet.

Rich and Fresh
Today is Chocolate Mint Day! As all self-proclaimed chocolate connoisseurs will say, mint is one of the best additions to chocolate that has ever been created. It's right up there with peanut butter, real fruit (dipped), and more chocolate. There is a wide array of chocolaty mints and minty chocolates and all of them are being celebrated today. There are Andes Mints, which were among my first chocolate mint concoctions that I have ever eaten, along with the class mint chocolate chip ice cream, and mint chocolate cake. Literally any combination is fair game today. Eat as much of it as you want. On a diet? Not today, it's Chocolate Mint Day. There are even actual chocolate mint mints! I don't know if they do anything for your breath aside from making it smell like dessert, but they probably taste great and you'll eat them like candy because, let's face it, that's what they are. Even Extra Gum has a Mint Chocolate Chip Ice Cream flavoured gum. It's everywhere people. Easy and fun day to celebrate so let's get out there!

A Better Crunch
I had no idea what buttercrunch was until today, and I owe that to National Buttercrunch Day. I went to Rocky Mountain Chocolate Factory (an awesome chocolate place incase you were unaware of it) and asked them if they had any. Of course they said they did because they have almost every chocolate ever. (Godiva doesn't have buttercrunch OR vanilla truffles) All that aside, Buttercrunch is delicious. I bought two different kinds: one with nuts and one without. Both are delicious. I was at first afraid that it would be almost painful to bite like SOME toffee-esque things are, but it snaps pretty easily and doesn't stick to your teeth or any nonsense like that. So, go out and get some buttercrunch at your favourite chocolate shop. If you are lucky enough to live near a Thornton's then you should go there. I don't even know if they have buttercrunch, but they are just way too good either way. Here's a picture of my buttercrunch to give you an idea of what you should look for if you don't already know.
